Thai Seedlac

Thai seedlac. A seedlac sourced from Thailand rather than the standard Indian harvests — a different country, a different harvest pattern, slightly different color and working character. Carried because it gives finishers an alternative to the Indian-grade seedlacs when a particular tone or character is wanted.

Seedlac is the raw form of shellac — granules that have been screened and washed but not melted into button or stretched into flake. Working with it requires the practitioner to dissolve, filter, and prepare it themselves.

The Thai grade carries through to a slightly different cured character than the Indian seedlacs, useful for finishers building their own working lacs from source material.
